The fifth annual Charity Pulse report from Enthuse shows that fundraising performance has strengthened steadily over the past five years.

In 2021, just 27% of organisations reported an increase in income. By 2025, that figure has climbed to 45%, with 77% of charities seeing income either grow or remain stable over the last year.

That progress is fuelling confidence with 64% of charity leaders feeling optimistic about 2026, with corporate fundraising, events and individual giving all expected to grow. Trust remains a core asset too, with 82% of charities believing the public would rate trust in their organisation at eight out of ten or higher.

While economic pressures remain a concern, the direction of travel is clear: resilience, stronger performance and renewed belief in fundraising potential.

For charities looking to build on that optimism, we know that direct mail has a powerful role to play!

Its strengths align closely with the sector’s priorities. Direct mail offers a tangible, personal way to thank supporters, encourage early event sign-ups and set clear fundraising milestones. It can re-engage lapsed donors with carefully crafted win-back packs, reinforce trust through storytelling and transparency, and prompt action through clear calls to donate or participate.

Crucially, direct mail provides focus. A well-timed appeal landing on a kitchen table can cut through competing demands, giving supporters space to connect emotionally with a cause and respond.

As charities plan for growth in 2026, combining confidence with proven, trust-building channels like direct mail could help turn optimism into measurable income. Get in touch to find out more!
